Experience

If you own an airplane, fly for a living, or have a complicated medical history, go to an examiner{not necessarily me}who does a lot of exams.  I have done over 30,000 since beginning doing them in 1985, more than any other examiner in the entire 7 state Northwest Mountain Region.

Military Service

Of interest to military and former military pilots would be the first, and arguably the greatest adventure of my life.

After winning a Green Beret at Fort Bragg North Carolina in late 1968, I spent four months training with the Navy Seals in Key West Florida before reporting to A-251, Plei Djereng, an A team on the Cambodian border, where I served as the camp medic from the summer of 1969 to the summer of 1970.

Upon returning home and receiving an M.D. from the University of Michigan in 1974, I settled here in Seattle and have been having adventures ever since.

While serving on the A team I managed to film the war in all its intensity on a silent super 8 color movie that I narrated years later.  So far over 340,000 people have watched it.

Outdoor Adventures

Just remember, if you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.

In his day, the doc was an active skydiver, high angle technical rock climber, and scuba diver. He still single hands his 24 foot sailboat out on the open Pacific from where it is moored and where he has his second summer home in Sitka, Alaska.
